The Job
Working at Olive Garden as a To-Go specialist is a job that requires handling multiple tasks simultaneously, which can involve answering phone calls, taking online orders, preparing catering deliveries, ensuring each order is packed with any special requests fulfilled, and even making the breadsticks. There is a lot of organization involved to make sure that the job gets done with a high degree of service.
Multitasking
I’ve learned the value of maintaining speed and accuracy on the job. Making sure I stay on top of everything going on, even small errors, is important. Missing silverware or letting food sit too long in the window, can negatively impact the customer experience. This role has taught me how to manage several orders simultaneously while also ensuring each individual customer feels valued. This has helped refine my multitasking abilities, as well as my ability to stay calm in high pressure situations.
Dedication
It’s not just about getting the job done for me—it’s about doing it with excellence. I approach each order as if I were the customer. If I pull food from the window and it doesn’t look right, I have no problem asking the cooks to remake it. The presentation of the food is just as important as the taste, and I believe in delivering a high-quality experience every time. I enjoy going above and beyond for my customers, whether it’s grating fresh cheese when they request it or even taking an order outside from a customer’s car when they haven’t placed it online yet.
Leadership
As a certified trainer, I also understand the importance of leading by example. Since I am responsible for training everyone on the team, I know that even after their training is complete, they still see me as a point of reference, and I value that role. I ensure that I consistently uphold the standards I have taught others. By doing so, I influence others to strive for excellence, fostering a sense of unity within the team that enables us to work together as a cohesive unit.
